China's DRAM chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) raised 57.92 billion yuan ($8.6 billion) in its IPO on Shanghai's STAR Market this week, a historic 466% stock market debut and a step forward in the country's push for semiconductor self-reliance.
Analysts see the blockbuster listing, which made CXMT the most valuable China-listed company, as a sign of market maturation.
CXMT, the world's fourth-largest DRAM maker with an estimated 7.7% global market share, is proof of progress.
Barring external policy pressures, China could achieve self-sufficiency in chips within a decade, they note.
