Seoul shares open lower on continued tech losses

Seoul shares opened lower Wednesday, tracking overnight losses on Wall Street as investors reassessed the next phase of artificial intelligence trade.

After opening 2.7 percent lower, the benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index pared losses to trade down 108.18 points, or 1.41 percent, at 7,548.13 as of 9:15 a.m. Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.25 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite declined 1.16 percent.
