A major incident was declared after Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to heathland to the south of Dunwich early Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile across Europe, heatwaves and dry weather have continued to result in wildfires.
Some raged through the night in Spain, with ten areas now said to be of high concern.
Northwest Spain and northern Portugal have been particularly affected as multiple new fires took hold over the last 24 hours.
On the other side of the continent, gale-force winds fanned flames across the Greek islands, and there were multiple fatalities in Crete.
Neighbouring Turkey has closed hospitals and highways as fires ripped through its southern region.
We are on the ground in southwestern France where the blaze there is starting to die down, but the devastation left behind is becoming clear.
