U.S. military finds unidentified service member's remains after Iran attack in Jordan

U.S. forces said Sunday they found the remains of an unidentified service member near the Jordan air base where two American troops were killed in an https://www.axios.com/world/iran" target="_blank">Iranian missile attack.

The big picture: The disclosures bring the number of U.S. service members killed in the conflict to 18, as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) also revealed an American service member was killed Saturday in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone.

What we know: At least two Iranian ballistic missiles struck the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, which hosts U.S. troops and fighter jets, on Friday.

• CENTCOM said in a statement the service member's remains were found after a thorough search and that an examination to verify the remains was ongoing.
• A second service member was wounded and received medical treatment for a minor injury, CENTCOM added.
• "CENTCOM is withholding additional information, including the identities of the missing and fallen warriors, out of respect for the families during the notification process," CENTCOM added.
