CWG: Jhandu wins bronze as India open Glasgow campaign; Sachin survives tough boxing test
The 28-year-old para powerlifter from Bihar delivered India’s first medal of the Glasgow Games late on Friday, winning bronze in the men’s heavyweight event at the SEC Armadillo.
Jhandu finished with 130.9 points after opening with a successful lift of 181kg and improving to 190kg on his second attempt.
He then failed to complete 196kg, but his best lift was enough to secure third place.
