Andy Burnham has announced his first major new policy as Prime Minister with a cut to tax on electricity bills.
VAT will be removed from domestic electricity from October 1, it was announced this morning (July 21).
The cut will be funded from cancelling the Digital ID programme, Chancellor John Healey said.
This is Mr Burnham's first major policy announcement just a day after entering 10 Downing Street.
On Monday, the Makerfield MP promised a 10-year plan for Britain alongside a new political and economic model.
