‘This was not easy’ - Trump signs Iran deal in Versailles

A memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran has come into force after being signed on Wednesday.

“This was not easy,” President Trump said after signing the agreement alongside French President Emmanuel Macron in Versailles.

The 14-point deal includes an immediate end to hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon, the full resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, and a $300 billion economic rehabilitation plan for Iran.

Details of Iran’s nuclear programme are due to be negotiated over the next 60 days.
