China rescues 45 Vietnamese sailors after vessel sinks in South China Sea

The Vietnamese vessel "Khoi Nguyen 18" sank after encountering distress in waters near Yongshu Reef in the Nansha Qundao in the South China Sea on the night of July 24, with 62 Vietnamese nationals on board.

After receiving the distress alert, the Sansha maritime search and rescue authorities launched an emergency response.

As of the afternoon of July 26, Chinese rescue crews had saved 45 people.

Search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
