The Malian Army and their allies the Russian Africa Corps, formerly the Wagner Group, have been forced to withdraw from the northern city of Kidal in Mali.

Their pullout comes after a series of coordinated attacks on cities across Mali at the weekend from the Tuareg rebel group - FLA - and the Al-Qaeda affiliated militants - JNIM.
But the military-led Malian government says it is still in control of the capital.
