Spain has welcomed back its heroes.
The day after their victory over Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final, the new world champions returned to Madrid, trophy in hand.
They can now also add a second coveted gold star above the team's national badge, to go with the first star for winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup title.
For an entire generation, this was the first experience of winning a world title.
