NHL Trade Rumors: Oilers linked to blockbuster reunion with $20.5 million former star ahead of new season
The Edmonton Oilers are being linked to a potential reunion with free agent Evander Kane, with Oilers insider David Staples making the case that Edmonton needs a physical enforcer after missing out on Nikita Zadorov.
Kane, 34, was traded to the Vancouver Canucks last summer after signing a four-year, $20.5 million deal with the Oilers.
With his contract expired and his market value reduced, a return at a lower cost is being discussed as a real possibility for a team still building its Stanley Cup roster under new coach Mike Babcock.
