Extreme heat and strong winds fuel new wildfires in France and Spain

Firefighters in Spain and France were battling fast-moving and deadly wildfires Sunday, with extreme heat and strong winds fueling new fronts even as others were contained.

The rapidly spreading blazes near Madrid and Bordeaux have engulfed fields, forests, and homes, forcing more than 300,000 people to evacuate or take shelter, with no idea what they will find when they can finally return.
