US officials threatened with jail if they don’t comply with Trump election security measures

In the U.S., state election officials are being threatened with possible prison time if they fail to comply with new election security measures put forth by the Trump administration.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin made the threat Friday, demanding states run their voter rolls through a federal database.

The move follows a prime-time address by President Donald Trump in which he questioned the security of U.S. elections and repeated unfounded claims about voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

Candice Cole reports on the new threat and the reaction to it.
