BIS seize Rs 7.3 crore worth gold jewels from Trichy shops

Bureau of Indian Standards officials seized gold jewels valued at Rs 7.3 crores.

The enforcement drive occurred on Big Bazaar street in Trichy city.

Four point nine kilograms of gold jewels were confiscated for lacking mandatory Hallmarking Unique Identification.

Selling gold jewels without this identification is an offense under the BIS Act.

Action will be initiated against the jewelers for this violation.
