Calgary Water Crisis

Calgary Water Crisis

Calgary lost 23% of its treated water last year due to leaky pipes, prompting city officials to propose a $342 million plan to reduce water loss to 15% by 2030.

The city has also surpassed its monthly rainfall average in three days, leading to localized flooding and increased 311 calls.

While heavy rain has started easing, a high streamflow advisory remains in place for the Oldman River.

Residents are urged to conserve water to reduce pressure on the water treatment system, as the city grapples with both water loss and flood risks.
