Southern Water Ex-CEO Charged with Fraud
Former Southern Water chief executive Matthew Wright and three other ex‑employees were charged with conspiracy to defraud over allegations they manipulated wastewater testing results.
The Environment Agency brought the criminal case, marking the first time water company bosses face fraud charges over sewage pollution.
If convicted, Wright faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The charges are part of a wider crackdown on water companies accused of covering up pollution incidents.
