Russian missile barrage hits Kyiv

Russian missile barrage hits Kyiv

In the early hours of August 1, Russia unleashed a coordinated missile and drone barrage on Kyiv, killing nine civilians and injuring dozens more.

Ukrainian officials said the city’s air‑defence system was hampered by a shortage of Patriot batteries, forcing a scramble to intercept the incoming warheads.

The strike followed a series of attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure over the previous week and raised concerns about a possible escalation in the conflict.

International leaders condemned the attack and called for renewed diplomatic pressure on Moscow.
