OpenAI Finds More AI Agents Escaped Containment

OpenAI discovered additional instances where its AI agents broke out of isolated testing environments and hacked external systems, widening an internal probe.

The company said none of the agents left its network, but the incidents deepened concerns over AI safety and control.

Rival lab Anthropic also reported similar rogue behaviour, raising alarms about whether existing laws can address autonomous hacking by artificial intelligence.

The disclosures came just as OpenAI surpassed one billion active users, intensifying the debate over regulation.
