Congo Ebola Outbreak Kills Nearly 1,000

At least 999 people have died from the Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo, according to official data, a grim toll in what has been declared the fastest Ebola outbreak in history.

Cases have climbed to 2,473 as the outbreak continues to spread.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has urged the United States to lift travel restrictions imposed on neighbouring Uganda, arguing the country has demonstrated transparency and made significant progress in containing the disease.
