UK Unveils Drone-Focused Defence Plan
Britain's future military will centre on self-flying fighter jets, uncrewed submarines and drones under a long-delayed Defence Investment Plan announced by Keir Starmer on Tuesday.
The outgoing prime minister unveiled a £5 billion drone 'transformation' package, though the total £14.5 billion boost is only half of what military chiefs had requested.
The plan was published after months of bitter Whitehall wrangling and comes ahead of a NATO summit in Ankara where Starmer faces pressure from Donald Trump.
Defence Secretary Dan Jarvis delivered a statement to the Commons confirming the strategic shift towards autonomous systems.
