Citigroup profit jumps 42%

Citigroup's latest financial results have provided a major boost to investor confidence, with the bank posting its highest quarterly revenue in a decade.

The fixed-income trading unit was a standout performer, generating $5.2 billion as clients navigated the volatility caused by the Iran war.

Additionally, the bank's wealth management and services divisions saw double-digit growth, reflecting a more streamlined corporate structure.

While Citigroup remains heavily exposed to geopolitical risks, Jane Fraser stated that the bank is 'well-positioned' to navigate a higher-for-longer interest rate environment and continue its multi-year restructuring process.
