Maduro Returns to New York Court

Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores returned to a New York federal courtroom for a pretrial hearing in the US drug trafficking case against them.

The hearing before US District Judge Alvin Hellerstein addressed the upcoming schedule, including a possible June 2027 trial start date.

His lawyers continue to challenge the legality of the US military action that removed him from power.

The case remains a flashpoint in US-Venezuela relations.
