Senator Lindsey Graham Dies at 71
Senator Lindsey Graham, the influential South Carolina Republican who served more than three decades in Congress, died suddenly at age 71 from an aortic dissection and cardiovascular disease.
His death prompted an outpouring of tributes from both sides of the aisle, with the Senate opening Monday with Graham's desk draped in black and white roses.
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed Graham's sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to fill the vacant seat until a special election can be held.
Graham's passing complicates the GOP legislative agenda and leaves a significant void in the party's foreign policy and judiciary leadership.
