Ford recalls 1.4 million trucks

The recall affects certain models produced between 2014 and 2017 equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the fault is linked to a software issue that can cause the vehicle to shift into first gear regardless of speed.

Ford is aware of at least one accident and two injuries potentially related to the defect.

Owners will be notified to bring their vehicles to dealerships for a free software update to address the safety concern.
