Pakistan suicide attack kills 14

At least 14 police officers have been killed following a devastating suicide car bomb attack in Pakistan's Bannu district.

The assault targeted a security post and was followed by a coordinated ambush on backup units arriving at the scene.

A breakaway faction of the Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack, which also left several other officers critically injured.

Security forces have launched a large-scale operation in the surrounding mountainous region to track down the perpetrators as the country faces a renewed surge in militant violence.
