Lagos to host Nigeria’s first sports festival

The six‑day festival will feature athletics, football, basketball and traditional games across three venues in Lagos Island, Ikoyi and Victoria Island.

The state government has allocated ₦2 billion for infrastructure upgrades, including a new synthetic track and refurbished community gyms.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports expects participation from over 5,000 athletes representing all 36 states.

Organisers hope the showcase will feed talent into the national squads for the 2028 Olympic cycle.
