Gibraltar-Spain Border Fence Torn Down
At midnight on Tuesday, the physical border fence separating Gibraltar from Spain was dismantled, marking the implementation of a historic post-Brexit agreement.
For the first time in 118 years, people and vehicles can cross freely between the British territory and the Spanish mainland without passport checks.
Spanish border controls will now be conducted at Gibraltar’s airport and seaport, while the land frontier becomes an open crossing.
The deal, which followed four years of negotiations, is expected to boost the local economy and ease the daily commute for thousands of cross-border workers.
