Samsung plans record $80bn shareholder return

Samsung plans record $80bn shareholder return

Samsung Electronics announced plans to return between 90 trillion and 110 trillion won ($65-80 billion) to shareholders this year, the largest such payout in its history.

The move comes amid pressure from the AI boom and follows SK Hynix's buyback.

The company also plans to sell its stake in Samsung Display for $3.2 billion to fund future growth.

The announcement boosted Seoul stocks, with chip gains offsetting US Treasury yield rises.
