Ford Recalls 1.4 Million F-150s

One of America's most popular vehicles is at the center of a massive safety recall affecting model years 2015 through 2017.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that a fault in the transmission lead frame can cause trucks to abruptly shift into first gear while at high speeds, potentially leading to loss of control.

Ford plans to remedy the issue with a software update at authorized dealerships, though some owners have expressed frustration over the delay in identifying the problem.

The recall includes roughly 144,000 vehicles in Canada, where the manufacturer is facing similar regulatory pressure.
