Kidnapped Forest Service Workers Freed

Two U.S. Forest Service employees were freed after being held hostage at gunpoint for more than 12 hours in a remote area of California's Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

A father and son were arrested for the kidnapping, which ended when the FBI Hostage Rescue Team secured the release of the workers early Friday morning after a tense, 15-hour standoff.

The California Attorney General confirmed the employees had been zip-tied during the ordeal.

The incident occurred in a remote wilderness area of Northern California, highlighting the dangers faced by federal land management personnel.
