Andy Burnham Pledges Devolution and ‘No10 North’

Andy Burnham used a speech in Manchester to declare he would create a ‘No10 North’ as part of a radical devolution of power from Westminster.

The frontrunner to succeed Keir Starmer pledged a circuit-breaker for the UK economy, with plans for the biggest post-war council housing programme and immediate help with living costs.

Burnham said the current system is ‘broken’ and that he would oversee a rewiring of the British state to deliver growth in all regions.

His proposals include giving local leaders more control over transport, utilities, and housing.
