Trump Threatens Tariffs Over Canada Smoke

Smoke from hundreds of Canadian wildfires blanketed major US cities from the Midwest to the East Coast, triggering hazardous air quality alerts and affecting more than 100 million people.

President Donald Trump blamed Canada for the pollution, threatening to add the "incalculable cost" of dealing with the smoke to existing tariffs on Canadian goods.

The smoke forced the closure of Six Flags Great America and prompted officials in Detroit, Minneapolis, and Chicago to urge residents to stay indoors or wear masks.

The polluted air also raised concerns ahead of Sunday's World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
