Ebola outbreak spreads to sixth DRC province

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has now spread to a sixth province, with the death toll surpassing 2,100.

The WHO has warned the outbreak could become the deadliest on record, surpassing the 2014-2016 epidemic that killed over 11,000 people.

The virus is spreading faster than authorities can contain it, particularly in remote areas with limited healthcare infrastructure.

The WHO has recommended a Phase III trial of an Ebola vaccine against the Bundibugyo virus as researchers race to develop treatments.
