Ford recalls 1.4M pickup trucks

The recall affects model year 2014-2017 vehicles equipped with six-speed automatic transmissions.

According to NHTSA, a software glitch can cause the trucks to downshift into first gear regardless of speed, which can cause the rear wheels to lock up.

Ford is aware of at least one accident and two injuries potentially linked to the defect.

Dealers will provide a free software update to address the issue, and owners are being urged to schedule repairs immediately.
