UK Advisers Recommend Meningitis B Jab for Teenagers
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation advised the government to introduce routine immunisation for adolescents, citing a series of recent cases that resulted in two deaths.
Meningitis B can cause life-threatening inflammation of the brain and blood poisoning.
The programme would be rolled out through schools and GP surgeries.
The move was welcomed by charities but will require NHS funding and logistical planning.
