Mahmoud Khalil Sues Over ‘Conspiracy’

Mahmoud Khalil, the Palestinian activist who spent months in ICE detention, has filed a federal lawsuit alleging a 'public-private conspiracy' between the Trump administration and right-wing pro-Israel organisations to suppress criticism of Israel by targeting him and other student activists.

The lawsuit invokes the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, a Reconstruction-era statute designed to combat conspiracies to violate civil rights, and names the White House and the Heritage Foundation among the defendants.

Khalil claims the defendants coordinated to dox, jail, and deport activists who expressed pro-Palestinian views.

The case represents a significant escalation in the legal battles over campus activism and free speech rights related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
