Japan intervened to support yen with US Treasury

In a coordinated move, Japan’s Ministry of Finance and the U.S. Treasury bought yen in the foreign‑exchange market on Friday, aiming to curb the currency’s rapid appreciation.

The joint intervention marks the first such cooperation since 2011 and reflects concerns over export competitiveness and inflationary pressures in both economies.
