Trump Imposes 50% Tariffs on Canadian Goods

President Trump imposed a sweeping 50% tariff on most Canadian imports, citing discrimination against American autos, alcohol, and dairy products.

The tariffs, which exempt energy and potash, will take effect in 30 days and drew immediate condemnation from Ottawa.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney called the move a violation of the CUSMA trade agreement and vowed to protect workers.

The escalation threatens to reignite a full-scale trade war between the two neighbours.
