UK Sanctions Sudan Gold Trade

The UK government announced a new round of sanctions targeting the Sudanese gold trade, which it says is a major source of funding for both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

The sanctions target businesses and individuals involved in the extraction, processing, and export of gold from conflict areas.

The move is part of a broader international effort to pressure the warring factions to end the violence that has devastated Sudan.

The UK has previously sanctioned other individuals and entities linked to the conflict.
