Meningitis B Outbreak in Dorset

The confirmation of new meningitis B cases has prompted an urgent public health response following a previous deadly outbreak in Kent.

The UKHSA is targeting students in years 7 to 13 at two secondary schools where the cases were identified.

While the current patients are reportedly recovering well after treatment, the agency is acting with extreme caution to prevent further spread.

Parents and residents have been advised to remain vigilant for symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, and a non-blanching rash.
