Paramount Delays Warner Bros. Merger Amid Legal Fight

Paramount agreed to delay its $81 billion acquisition of Warner Bros.

Discovery until as late as June 2027 while a legal challenge from a dozen states proceeds.

The states, led by California, argue the merger would ‘extinguish competition’ in Hollywood.

Paramount said it would halt the merger until either a court ruling or a settlement is reached.

Shares of both companies slid in after-hours trading as opponents of the deal celebrated the delay.
