Train Strikes Car at Lancashire Level Crossing

A driver was killed and a child is fighting for life after a train collided with a car at a level crossing in Hoghton, Lancashire on Thursday morning.

Emergency services including two air ambulances rushed to the scene, with trains between Preston and Blackburn cancelled.

Images from the site showed the car flipped onto the tracks and extensive damage.

The child was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in a life-threatening condition, and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash was launched.
