Trump Aide Placed Bets on His Speeches
President Trump’s longtime teleprompter operator Gabriel Perez was placed on unpaid leave after allegedly using advance knowledge of speeches to earn more than $100,000 on prediction market Kalshi.
The White House condemned the conduct as a “disgrace” and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission opened an investigation into potential insider trading.
Perez, who had worked at the White House since 2016, is accused of placing bets on specific words and phrases the president would use during major addresses.
The scandal emerged as Trump’s media company separately announced plans to sell Wall Street traders high-speed access to Truth Social posts, drawing accusations of brazen corruption from ethics watchdogs.
