Indian Seafarers Killed in Hormuz Ship Attacks
Indian nationals were confirmed among the dead after attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, including a Pune engineer whose final text read 'ship has safely crossed'.
The government responded by ordering a real-time monitoring dashboard for all seafarers regardless of flag.
The family of Heramb Karmarkar, an engineer from Pune, confirmed his death after he went missing following an attack on the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman.
The attacks are part of the escalating conflict between the United States and Iran, which has seen the Strait of Hormuz become a flashpoint for military strikes and counter-strikes, severely disrupting commercial shipping in the region.
