Magnitude 7.7 quake hits Indonesia, tsunami warning

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia's Flores island early Saturday, causing buildings to collapse and triggering a tsunami warning that has since been lifted.

At least five people were killed, with the death toll expected to rise as rescuers search through debris.

Thousands of residents fled to higher ground in panic as dozens of aftershocks, including a 6.1 magnitude tremor, rattled the region.

The quake caused significant damage to homes, schools, and hospitals across Flores Island.
