John Swinney

Scottish politician (born 1964)

John Ramsay Swinney is a Scottish politician who has served as First Minister of Scotland since 2024. Swinney has served as Leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP) since 2024, and previously between 2000 and 2004. He has served as Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Perthshire North, previously North Tayside, since 1999, and was Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tayside from 1997 to 2001.
