At least eight dead after record rainfall in Japan

There has been record rainfall in eastern Japan, killing at least eight people, cutting power to more than 20,000 households and leaving thousands stranded.

Chiba prefecture, which is located 40km east of central Tokyo, was the worst-affected region.

While its has eased slightly, heavy rain is still expected and local authorities are warning there's still risk of landslides and flooding.
