A Belfast father has described the terrifying moment his children asked, “Daddy, are we OK?” as violent disorder erupted near their home in east Belfast.

Anselme Shima said his family closed their windows as smoke filled the area and feared their house could be targeted next.

Jamie Corry also revealed how he watched his home on Lendrick Street being destroyed after vehicles were set alight outside.

Homes, cars and a bus were damaged during a night of violence that left local families frightened and facing devastating losses.
