Man sitting in vehicle fatally shot in Uptown

A man was fatally shot early Friday while sitting in a vehicle in Uptown.

The 21-year-old man was in the vehicle in the 5100 block of North Winthrop Avenue around 12:25 a.m. when someone approached and opened fire, Chicago police said.

He was shot in the neck and taken to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died, police said.

Area 3 detectives were investigating.
