Israel president offers to mediate Netanyahu corruption case

Israel's president has invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and government prosecutors to his residence to discuss a settlement in Netanyahu's ongoing corruption case.

President Isaac Herzog's office issued the invitation days after announcing he would not decide on Netanyahu's pardon request.

Herzog is urging both sides to reach a settlement before considering the pardon.

Netanyahu asked Herzog to cancel his trial last November, saying the move would unify the country.

The trial, involving charges of breach of trust, fraud, and bribery, has divided the public.

Netanyahu denies all charges.

There was no immediate comment from Netanyahu's office.
